This is a fairly common phenomenon among guitar enthusiasts… It’s about immersing ourselves into the last two minutes of “November Rain”, dreaming of being Slash and starring in one of the most legendary solos in the history of rock. But let us make a recommendation: start at the beginning. Buying an electric guitar and starting practice at home is easy if we have the right equipment; so take note of our advice. We can’t promise that you’ll get to become a guitar virtuoso… but it will be fun!
The electric guitar
As we talked about a while ago, choosing our first guitar, whether electric or acoustic, can be a fairly complex process. If you’re a beginner, our recommendation is that you opt for mid range models that are -cheaper, but good quality-, comfortable, versatile and with accurate tuning along the entire fingerboard: an electric guitar with a solid wood body, a tremolo bridge and that also has at least one double-pickup (Humbucker), would be the perfect choice for being open to interpretating any style. Remember, you’re starting to become familiar with sound, so it’s best you experiment with a more versatile guitar.

Since the electric guitar doesn’t have a soundboard to amplify the sound, if you want to really enjoy the experience, you need to have an amplifier (do not blow your music system by connecting it to the guitar through the microphone input…). Here, we also recommend versatile models, with integrated multi-effects and small in size.

The pedal board
It’s not essential, of course, if you’re looking to practice at home; but there is no doubt that you can add some extra fun. If you end up going for a simple amplifier (without integrated multi-effects), you can combine it with a small multi-effects instead of one or more pedals: it’s cheaper, simpler and offers a wide variety of sounds to try out.

Although we’ve already gone over the essentials, there are many accessories that will be of great use in daily practice and that you’ll have no problems finding on the MusicNexo online store: tuners, cables, ropes, strings, straps…and don’t forget the picks!
Now you’re ready…let the show begin!
